After 10 years as a staff member for his predecessor, Brian Rasel will begin his first term as state representative for the 2025-26 legislative session. He replaces his former boss, retired Rep. George Dunbar, and will represent the 56th Legislative District.

In addition to working in Dunbar’s district offices, he also serves as a member of the Penn Area Library Board and has been a part of the Trafford Community Library Board. He also has more than a decade of service as a member of the Westmoreland County Republican Party, where he held several leadership positions.

Brian’s motivation to run for office is rooted in the families of the 56th Legislative District, including his own. He and his wife, Caitlyn have three children, Reagan, 4, Remi, 2, and Beau, 1. He wants to see professional opportunities increase for future generations that will live and work in western Pennsylvania.

He also intends to prioritize legislation that reins in government spending, reduces unnecessary government red tape and burdensome regulations, as well as protects constitutional rights.
