March 18, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Brian Rasel (R-Westmoreland) today announced nearly $300,000 in state funding is being invested in several community improvement projects in the 56th Legislative District.
“In speaking with local officials, I know that safety and public works are job one, so I am happy we are able to deliver on these priorities,” Rasel said. “I was happy to work with Sen. Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland) to bring these grants home to municipalities that are constantly juggling providing quality services with keeping local tax burdens as low as possible.”
Entities receiving grants include:
• Irwin Borough, $48,000 to repair and install new decking at a community amphitheater.
• City of Jeannette, $35,000 to purchase a new code enforcement vehicle.
• Manor Borough, $10,000 to purchase two hose decontamination systems for use by the Manor Volunteer Fire Department.
• North Irwin Borough, $48,000 to repair a playground entrance and parking lot.
• Penn Borough, $79,000 to replace a fire apparatus/snow plow truck.
• Penn Township, $42,000 to purchase chainsaws, traffic barricades, signage and related equipment to address maintenance work after storm events.
• Trafford Borough, $29,000 to develop a parking lot on a currently vacant parcel.
The grants, known as Local Share Account (LSA) grants, were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over Pennsylvania’s economic growth programs and investments. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
