Rasel: Infrastructure Grants Awarded to Local Communities
January 20, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Brian (R-Westmoreland) today announced more than $1.3 million in state grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for projects within the 56th Legislative District.
“As hard as our local governments work to budget responsibly while also meeting their communities’ needs, often, the cost of a project will far exceed what taxpayers can afford. These grants can get projects off the drawing board and across the finish line,” said Rasel. “As always, I appreciated working along with Sen. Kim Ward on seeing these enhancements come to our neighborhoods.”
The CFA is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development. It distributes funding through several programs dedicated to economic growth. The grants awarded are through the Multimodal Transportation and the Small Water and Sewer grant programs.
In all, $1,309,905 was awarded to the 56th Legislative District, which includes:
• Irwin Borough, $110,513 for improvements to storm water inlets and piping, as well as a streambank stabilization project.
• City of Jeannette, $603,120 for reconstruction of a retaining wall along Chestnut Street.
• Penn Township, $500,000 to retrofit two stormwater ponds.
• Trafford Borough, $96,272 for the Bluff Stormwater Project.
